Dear Westran Families,
We have some exciting news! Our school has qualified for a program that will allow our students to eat breakfast and lunch for free! This includes all students in our district. There are a few things that will still come at a cost to you. If your student chooses to get extra milk, it will cost $.40. Middle school and high school students will still have an opportunity to get a la carte items. Those items will also be charged at the regular price. The only free offering will be regular breakfast and lunch.
An important part of this program is that we still have families fill out our free and reduced lunch application. You can get those from the building secretaries at any time. This will help set our numbers during this baseline year. Thank you to our food service director, Teresa McAdams, for making this happen!

Middle School Morning Fit Club will begin next week! The schedule will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:45-7:20am.
Softball & Football Jamboree Tonight at South Shelby!
Softball Jamboree starts at 4:00 PM, with Westran’s first game around 4:30 PM.
Football Jamboree begins at 7:00 PM.
Admission: Please bring sports drinks as your entry fee.
Westran will have its own designated collection area for drinks.

MS Softball practice on Friday August 22nd will be at 6:15am.
24-25 High School Yearbooks are in and are being passed out today for students who ordered them. 2025 Seniors who don't have a sibling at the high school, pre-ordered yearbooks will be in the office after 1 pm today, 8/20/25, for pickup, or let me know if there is another student we can send your book with. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to these wonderful parents who came to the Middle School late on Monday evening to rejuvenate the area around our sign! I am proud to be in Hornet Country where we all work together for our kids and for our school!

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL due to the forecasted temperatures for the week we will be go by the following practice times:
Monday: 6:00-7:30am
Tuesday: 6:00-7:30am
Wednesday: 3:30-5:00pm
Thursday: 3:30-5:00pm
Friday: 6:00-7:30am
Westran R-1 Elementary Parents, there will be no aftercare for the 2025-2026 school year.
Bus Routes will remain the same for the 2025-2026 school year. The pick up and drop off times will also remain the same for returning Westran R-1 students.
