High School Fall Athlete Parents: update on fall sports pictures from Westran Creative Pix. Be on the lookout in your email next week for download instructions for those that prepurchased the digital download. If you wish to view pictures before purchasing, there will be a link available for viewing and purchasing that will also be sent next week. This week 8th graders completed a magazine big project showing texture. The students looked for interesting textures in the magazines and used them to create the parts of the bug. Bonus points for adding in a fun background.

8th graders completed a project where they used everyday objects to create the letters of their names. This incorporated design and creative problem solving in art.

Our students rocked their first week! From reading orders and measuring ingredients to teamwork, communication, and delivery, they put some serious real-world skills to work.

GIRLS GOLF. Yesterday, in a 9-hole match at Heritage Hills...Hayvven Fuemmeler finished 7th with 57, Kaylen Johnson 11th with 59, and MaKenna shot 70 for 26th in her first career match.

Congrats to these guys for making our weekly honors! Mason Veal earned Scout Team Player of the Week for his great week of work.Mason has made several impressive plays as a young guy. He also will do anything we ask out of him and does it with a great attitude! For our Core Value Players of the week, we’d also like to say congrats to Mason and Hanley Bundick for being voted by their peers for Week 2. Each week, a player will be nominated by their peers who represented one of the Core Values we strive to achieve throughout the week. The core values are Discipline, Tough, Energy, and Hornet Pride. Hanley was nominated for the Core Value, Tough. Hayden’s toughness shows in practice. He practices hard every rep. Hanley joined our team just a few weeks ago and has quickly impressed his teammates. We are exited for him to he a HORNET. Mason was also nominated for the Core Value, Tough. Veal has consistently shown this throughout his time with us. From the beginning of the summer to this point, Veal brings it every day and works hard. We are very proud of Mason and the toughness he shows day in and day out. Good luck to the Lady Hornets as they travel to Madison today! Varsity action begins at 6:00 PM, with JV to follow.

Congratulations to Mr. Jon Schmidt on being awarded the Chariton Valley Community Star Award! Mr. Schmidt, a Westran Middle School teacher, was nominated by a community member. This award is for "teachers and first responders who make our communities stronger every day." We are proud to have you on our team, Mr. Schmidt!

GIRLS GOLF. Last night, at a Heritage Hills 9-hole meet, Kaylen Johnson shot 60 tying for 8th place. Hayven Fuemmeler shot 52 in a tie for 2nd place! Both girls started the season off with one of their top career finishes!

Sixth grade FCS students were given family scenarios where they had to work together to make a plan to achieve the goal.  One group was planning a holiday on a budget and the other was planning a vacation. They had a family meetings to determine obstacles, challenges and strengths, to navigate unexpected expenses, and to make a plan to achieve the goal.

7th graders have been enjoying their first stem project! They were tasked with building the tallest free standing tower out of index cards and tape!

The main entrance for all Westran home softball and football games this fall will be the ticket booth located between the softball and baseball fields.

Admission is $5 per adult. Westran students and guests ages 60 and over are admitted FREE!
