In honor of 9/11, our 6th and 7th grade ELA classes took the time for a meaningful writing reflection. They each shared what being a “hero” means to them, bridging together the history of September 11th with inspiring connections to their own everyday lives.
GIRLS GOLF. Heritage Hills yesterday for a 9-hole match...Kadence Bell had her best career finish with 55 for 7th place! Hayven Fuemmeler was 62, 13th. Kaylen Johnson 64, 18th. And MaKenna Stufflebean finished 24th with 69.

Jackson Link earned Scout Team Player of the Week for his great week of work. Jackson has done a great job all year of giving our varsity defense a solid look. As Jackson likes to day quite a bit, I cooked up Coach Baxley's defense today. Which I appreciate because that makes us better! Congrats Jackson!
For our Core Value Players of the week, we’d like to say congrats to Hunter Boyack and Lennon Winterbower for being voted by their peers for Week 3.
Each week, a player will be nominated by their peers who represented one of the Core Values we strive to achieve throughout the week.
The core values are Discipline, Tough, Energy, Family, and Hornet Pride.
Hunter Boyack was nominated for the Core Value, energy. Hunter's energy is great to be around on a daily basis. We also love that he is fearless. The very first day of practice, he was begging to go against Danian, who might be a little bigger than him. 😅 He also does a great job of bringing energy in the weight room with giving encouragement and working hard. Hunter's energy is worth catching and we're glad to have him apart of our football family.
Lennon was nominated for the Core Value, Hornet Pride. Lennon fits the exact mold of what it means to be a Westran Hornet football student athlete. He does everything we ask and more in the classroom and on the field. Lennon's work ethic is top notch and he has been very impressive and we love that he's part of our football family as well.

Today's Old Settler's Parade has been cancelled due to rainy weather.
High School Yearbook Pickup. The following students have pre-purchased 25-26 yearbooks in the high school office to pick up. Howard Buschkoetter, Ellanessa Lee, Elexis Mills, Kyle Smith, Josiah Wright, Gage Adler, Wyatt Dodd, Kelsie Moran, Drew Tompson, Jill Stephenson, Michael Johnson, and Gage Kempker.
Tomorrow, the Westran Hornet Football Team would like to invite all our youth athletes for our Youth Night. Each team will be introduced before the game at 6:45.
After introductions, our youth athletes will run out with the team and join us for the National Anthem.

Congratulations to Westran senior Reece Sickler on being named one of the inaugural NEMO Pressbox Runners of the Week!
Reece had an outstanding performance at the Salisbury 3500, setting a new course record with a time of 10:45.50! With that performance, he became just the fifth runner to break the 11-minute barrier on the course.
