Shoutout to our fearless leader, Holly Bennett! This Staffulty Appreciation Week, we’re taking a moment to recognize someone who truly sets the standard—our principal, Holly Bennett. Holly goes above and beyond every single day for the students, staff, and the entire Westran R-1 community. Mrs. Bennett is more than just a leader—she's a steady hand in the storm, a cheerleader when we need encouragement, and a tireless advocate for every student and staff member in this building. She leads with strength and compassion, creating a culture where we all feel seen, heard, and valued. She’s firm when she needs to be, always fair, consistent in her leadership, and let’s be honest—tons of fun! Whether it's guiding us through challenges or celebrating our successes, Holly leads with heart, purpose, and a whole lot of energy. Her consistency gives us structure, her fairness earns our respect, and her sense of fun makes this school a place we want to be every day. She shows up, not just because it’s her job, but because she deeply cares—and we feel that in everything she does. Thank you, for your unwavering dedication, your big heart, and your fearless leadership. You are truly the heart and soul of WMS. We appreciate you more than words can say! Westran is better because of you—and so are we.

Huge congratulations to Westran FFA BBQ team. Yesterday was the State HS BBQ Competition. These kids walked away with 3rd as an overall team. They also got 4th in Ribs, Chicken, and Brisket, as well as 7th in grilled cheese. For those that have not seen a HS BBQ contest, it is a lot. These students woke up at 2am to load up and get ready. Once they arrived they had a cooks meeting, fired up smokers, and cooked for 9 hours. During this time they had to follow a strict schedule to ensure all of their turn ins were on time. These kids worked nonstop cooking, cleaning, preparing, and plateing their food. We couldn’t be more proud of this group of kids for their hard work and dedication. Good luck at Nationals in June!
