Westran Elementary November Students of the Month

The Cross Country team made school history on Saturday!
Gans Creek Course in Columbia, MO is where that history was made. Home of the Class 1 State Championships. Jill Stephenson and Nolan Winkler represented the Westran Hornets along with their coach Allen Dougherty.
The runners represented themselves well against the best Class 1
runners in the State.
Jill Stephenson placed 80th out 166 finishers with a time of 24:12.5.
Nolen Winkler placed 98th out 171 runners 19:48.8.
The competition was very good in both divisions. The course became muddy after Friday night's rain and over 600 runners from Classes 2 and 3 making the course slick in several spots.
Congraulations to the whole Cross Country team for working towards this accomplishment!

Last week, students in 1C learned about the pumpkin life cycle. They created their own “Pumpkin Jack” after reading the story by Will Hubbell. They named it “Dr. Pumpkin” and discovered that it took 7 days for the decomposition stage to start. We’ll update you through the school year!
