Dear Parent or Guardian:

Mother Nature has not been very kind to us this school year!  It is acting up again this week with the temperatures forecasted to be close to record lows tonight and dangerous wind chills.  The safety of our students is always first on our minds at Westran RI Schools.  We are going to cancel school tomorrow, January 30, 2019 due to the extreme cold weather.  We are also going to start school on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.  This late start will allow all students to leave their house when it is daylight and not in the dark.  Our busses will run two hours later than normal on Thursday morning.  If your regular pickup time is 7:15 a.m. then you will be picked up at 9:15 a.m.  All three buildings will serve a breakfast starting at 10:00 a.m. and lunch at regular time.  The elementary school will open its doors at 9:30 a.m.  If you are going to drop off your children, then please do not do so before 9:30 a.m.

Please be sure that your children are dressed appropriately when inclement weather strikes or is expected.  They may have to wait a little longer for a bus that is delayed because of poor road conditions.  We appreciate your cooperation, understanding and assistance with these weather-related emergencies.  The Westran RI staff, faculty, and administration care deeply for the safety of every student in our district and hope that we can get back to an educational routine very soon when Mother Nature permits us.

Sincerely,

Mike Nagel

Westran RI Superintendent
